How's our budget doing? Click Here to find out. Special Announcement Adopt a Piece of John Knox! The summer time is finally here! This means new growth and beautiful flowers. As you know our campus is quite large and we are fortunate enough to have it beautifully landscaped. Unfortunately, this is a lot of space. We are asking anyone with a green thumb to step up and contribute their skills to weed a portion of the flower beds. A small portion will make a huge difference and make the landscaping even more beautiful than it is now! You can simply arrive and work where you would like, the weeds can be placed in the south corner dumpster. A big THANK YOU to the folks who have already started their weeding projects. Email Bob Erickson if you'd like to help. Session Highlights · The second phase of Pastor Bryan Burton’s sabbatical/vacation will begin 7/21 through 8/25. Schedule Change for Sunday School on August 10th
Parents, please be aware that there will not be any Sunday School for grades 1st-6th on August 10th. The Student and Family Ministries team that went to Mexico to build houses will be reporting back to the congregation during both services that Sunday through testimony, worship and a slideshow. Children are encouraged to attend the service with their parents. There will be regular Sunday classes for children ages kindergarten and younger.
Do You Have a Heart for Young Children?
Children and Family Ministries is in need of 2 teams of teachers who would be willing to teach the 3 and 4 year olds class or the Kindergarten class starting on September 14. Classes are offered during both service times. Ideally, it would work best to have the teachers alternate every other Sunday or every other month in the teaching responsibilities. If you are interested in joining the team or would like further information, please contact Beth Tweitmann
Small Toys/Prizes Needed
Throughout the summer months our kids during first service have been studying the life of Paul as we travel on "Paul's Missionary Journey: A Mediterranean Cruise Adventure." As part of this class, the kids have been earning "Med Money" that they will be able to use at the end of the cruise to purchase souvenirs. We are asking for donations of small, new toys, games or prize items on which the kids could spend their money. You can bring your donations to the main office or to the Atrium box marked "CFM prize donations."
· Congratulations to the children who attended VBS. They donated just about 1,000 food items to the Highline Community Food Bank and collected $550.79 in coins to be donated to the missionary organization Society of St. Andrew to help feed the hungry nationwide.
· The Sunday school children have been collecting their offerings to purchase a tricycle with Equip India for a 19 year old who was afflicted with Polio. The tricycle is specially designed to allow him to get around his village and to travel to and from his job. The tricycle costs $130.00. So far the children have donated $117.37. That means they are only $12.63 short of their goal which they plan to meet within the next 2 weeks.
Required Background Screening
The JKPC session adopted a new policy. National Background Screening for volunteers who work with children and youth will now be run. Prior to now, volunteers underwent a state wide screening process; but in an attempt to do the most we can to safeguard our children it was felt a national screening was in order. Anyone who works at JKPC with children or youth under the age of 18 will need to enter some information. You may utilize the following computer link. The background checks will be run by a company named Protect My Ministry. It will only take about 3 minutes to enter your information. For more information, or questions about this policy please contact Beth Tweitmann or Dave Roberts.
Prayer Meeting — “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV.
Please join our next prayer meeting Tuesday, August 5th at 6:30 PM in the Chapel. Nursery Care is provided for kids 3 years and under. You are encouraged to spend the day fasting. The fast will be broken as we come to the table together for communion during the service. This meeting is open to all. For more information contact Brian Moss.

Lt. Col. Charles "Ty" Harris, a friend of JKPC serving in Anbar Province, Iraq, has requested assistance in gathering school supplies for Iraqi children. The patrols from Camp Ramadi take these gifts with them when they go into town, and have identified the following needs:
Kids Sized Backpacks, Notebooks, Pens/Pencils, Chalk, Crayons, Erasers, Boy’s Shoes (they have a ton of girl’s shoes already) and Soccer balls
As a church, we are responding by coordinating the collection of school supplies and have designated a drop off point at the bottom of the stairs in the administrative building. We endeavor to support this effort with monthly shipments and prayer. Please contact Brian Hewitt if you have any questions, or would like to help.

What are Life Groups? They are complementary to our times of corporate worship and service together. They are a place to help people connect relationally to the community of faith; where they can grow toward full devotion to Christ and where they can reach out to others with His love.
In a large church like John Knox, Life Groups help us to get smaller as we grow bigger, to foster intimacy, maturity, and accountability as followers of Christ. Life Groups are the place where one can be grounded in truth while staying real with life; where what we believe is aligned with what we practice. They involve study, prayer, relationship, and service. Groups meet in homes, coffee houses, or even here at JKPC. Gatherings take place anywhere from weekly to bi-weekly to once a month and normally last an hour and a half to two hours. There are groups for men, women and couples.
For information contact our Life Group Coordinator Gregg Baklund.
