Welcome!

Worship is the core of who we are as a community. We give back to God what He has given us; our very lives. “I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
FROM PASTOR BRYAN BURTON
As this coming Sunday is both Pentecost and Mother's Day, I find myself in an odd place as a Christian and as a pastor... Why is it in the church that we remember (most of us anyway) when Mother's Day is but so often forget about Pentecost? As God's people we are called to worship the living, triune God together, and this Sunday is the time in which church celebrates the person, work and coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Church, in the life of every Christian and in the world. It has always been a major celebration in the Church (long before Christmas was ever considered a holy day [holi-day]), second only to holy days of Holy Week. So how do we so easily forget this day in our Christian journey? Yet, I doubt whether anyone has forgotten that this Sunday is also Mother's Day, a day that our culture has set aside to remember and honor our mothers. And let's admit it, honoring our mothers is a very Christian thing to do. In fact it is as old as the Ten Commandments, since it is the fifth commandment of those ten that calls upon us to honor our mothers (along with our fathers) so that we may live long lives (see Exodus 20 or Deuteronomy 5). I love my mother (and my mother-in-law) and I want to honor them this Sunday. And I really love the mother of our children, my wife, and want to honor her this Sunday. So here is the invitation... take time to honor the Holy Spirit as you take time to honor your mother and know if it were not for either, none of us would have life...
